I picked up a nuespeed throttlebody that has been completely disasembled. Everything works but I cant figure out the orientation of the small butterlfy. It seems that no matter what way i put it in there is a gap between the wall of the throttle body and the butterfly. Can anyone help me out? Any one have pictures of the throttle body up close? One side of the buttefly has a 8 stamped into it and a small part machined out. Anyone with pics or info, help would be greatly apperciated

maybe that butterfly, being the primary, is not supposed to close up all of the way. i mean a little air has to get by to idle the engine. Have you found any information that says it is supposed to close all the way?

There will be a little gap on the sides. If you look at the butterfly, one edge will be under cut. The cut away portion should hit first so that there will be a more complete "seal". That's what I remember.

go to the junk yard. find an audi 5000. unbolt the throttle body and take it home. then compare the two because they are identical. then clean the audi one, put it on your car and sell the neuspeed one to someone.

The butterflies (both of them) should definitely seal all the way around, the idle circuit lets air through at idle. You shouldn't be able to see much light if any going past the butterfiles when they are closed.
There is no real easy way to get them to seat right. When I assembled my last one I just lubed the whole thing up with wd-40 and fiddled with it until it sealed good (once I got them close to perfect I would open the butterfly slowly and let the spring tension snap it closed, worked pretty good), then tightened the screws.
You will want to use red loctite on the little screws that hold the butterflies in as well. If one of these screws comes out while the car is running theres only one place for it to go, right down into the motor.

Re: neuspeed throttle body questions (white rabbit)

Nick's advice is good. The cut away in the primary plate is on the back of the stock one I have hear. The 8 is on the front. But it's a stock one not the way to expensive Neuspeed.
