Our 99% stock 2000 New Beetle suddenly makes AM radio even more painful. There's a buzzing static on every single AM station (regardless of reception) that varies in pitch with engine RPM, which diminishes only when one lets off the gas.
What I don't get is (1) the engine and audio system are bone stock, (2) it's never done this before, and (3) it's only on AM radio: FM, cassette, and CD are totally unaffected.
What gives? The static drowns out all AM broadcasts to to the point of painful uselessness
