Well, sounds like VWvortex is raising a good issue here but at the same time GB is only possible through vendors that are "Approved" by vwvortex. Detail isn't clear but those vendors have to pay vwvortex??? That means we bargain hunters are limited to run GB with vendors who paid their dues?
Im confused.....Why are these rules necessary? To bring in more revenue?
what next? membership fees for VWvortex???

this new regulation is... logical i suppose. it's intention seems to be on protecting us vortexers from fraud operators. But honestly, i don't understand the part where the vendor has to pay in order to supply gb's. I guess this means less groupbuys, and gb's that don't necessarily have the best prices due to reduction in competition...

Personally I think the banning of GB's from shops that don't have a banner is total BS! 90% of the places that have a banner are the same exact places that don't exactly have "decent pricing", are against GB's, and some I know for a fact have even ruined GB's by running and crying to the companies about the prices!
Its a shame Vortex is falling into the $$ trap! So much for the "Enthusiast" aspect of the site! Its like a corrections camp around here anymore! More and more rules or finger pointing by the day! What's next, having to pay per post? You guys have no idea of the picture you just painted for ALOT of people!
People come here for a number a reasons! And you are ruining more and more of them!

The reason why I think the rules are in place is to keep retailers from profitting off free "advertising" on the Vortex. If you're not a paying advertiser, you don't deserve to make profit by using VWVortex's forum for your commercial purposes.

FREE ADVERTISING? who cares?
we're benefitting from the discount they give us, the least we can do is repay them with a bit of advertising. it also might encourage them to do more GBs in the future.

Usually, it isn't the companies "advertising" about a given GB. It is members starting a GB through the company and talking about it on a forum. The company doesn't really get any more advertising than me saying "X company rocks cause they hooked me up" by being in a GB conducted by a forum member.
I have heard enough horror stories about some of the advertisers with Vortex that I wouldn't ever buy anything through them. A more simple solution to this would just be to set up a GB forum and tell people that all GB info should go in there. It isn't that tough to add a new section of a forum in.
One more thought for the Vortex powers that be...... stop thinking about the almighty dollar and think about all the enthusiasts that frequent this site and have made it what it is.

Easy guys, Deception is right. How does Vortex expect to pay for server space and so on. These guys (mods) are doing this outta their own time, making this resource available.
Secondly, apparently everyone forgot about the mess with a company whose name shall not be named here. (hint: COI on 1.8t's...) Vortex Mods I'm sure caught hell when that stuff went south.
Vortex is trying to protect themselves and us. Ok, so they removing some competition. But who do you think are paying the bills for the servers?

I understand that it is being done partially out of a sense of "protecting" the users from dishonest, unscrupulous people, but I think the users should just be made aware that any deal that they enter into is done at their own risk and Vortex has nothing to do with what happens. If people don't have the brains to understand this, then maybe they shouldn't be looking at websites and dealing with people online.
Again, I say this is more a case of the almighty dollar shining in peoples eyes. If they ban GB, then more companies will pay to advertise and they will make more money from it. The site is obviously profitable and it has become a way to put extra cash in someones pocket. Money talks, Vortex is listening. Kind of sucks for all the users though. Such is life.
Fortunately I don't get in on that many GBs anyhow since I'm broke from reading this site, but for those people who participate in a lot of them, it sucks.

Ok... this is crap! We are here because we care for our VDubs..... We should be able to get our parts at the best price. Who gives a rats if they have a banner or not...?! PROFIT is the key here, nothing else. How are small shops that can't pay for vortex advertising suppossed to get their name out then? I am sure it has happened that some store did a GB and now they are on Vortex because they saw that they can sell their products here.... Guess we won't be seing any new places!! This is crap!!! Maybe we should rethink this whole vortex thing! NEXT WE WILL HAVE TO PAY VORTEX TO SELL OUR OWN PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE CLASSIFIEDS!!!!

Pleeeeeeeease!

They are now in place b/c and only b/c the ones running the banners will not and do not want to lower the prices of their products and are crying about customers calling them saying "X place sells it for X will you do that or any better"! PERIOD!
If there are GB's going customers get a pretty good idea of how much they pad their prices and don't go back to them b/c there is other places out there with much better prices!
Under all the pretty explanations, after you run 10 miles around the bush, and after the smell clears the truth is there and all of the members see it!
Some places want to make as much as they possibly can w/o getting any pressure from smart consumers and don't want much lower prices being posted on public place that so many people will see!
Time for these crying shops to WAKE UP! Welcome to the internet and the year 2002! Consumers are smarter than ever! We look, compare, ask, and search! The days of 500% profit and walk in traffic ignorant to the fact are over!!!
You guys jumped into the big pool of on-line sales so sink or swim!

I have been on this forum for only about a month and a half. But i have been reading the posts for over a year before I signed up. I noticed in that year or so that many of these group really don't save that much $$$, maybe it is just me. It seems to be high risk to up your trust and money into someone elses hands and hope you will get your parts, I think the Vortex is just looking out for their members.

One more thing and maybe someone agrees or can clear this up...but what is the deal with people. Someone will say they want a part but thing will wait months for a GB to start before they make a move on that product. And for what to save 10%

I think that is amazing, am I the only one who sees this
