Turn them on one click with the stalk (sams as the intermittent position on the regular cars). When the windshield gets wet, they wipe, when it's dry, they don't. There is a sensitivity adjustment for them so you can set how much water there is before they wipe. That adjuster is what sets the intermitent speed for those with regular wipers. The wipers still have a regular low and high setting as well if you don't want to mess with the "rain sensing" setting.
