More importantly, do you agree with my assessment? I respect your opinion.
The changes are definitely for the better!
The silver trim, on the current car, seems like something out of the early 2000s, and the HUGE center dash cubby hole makes you think the owner couldn't afford the infotainment screen.

Here's a quick and dirty version that's more along the lines of what I was thinking:

Thank you, Mr. Industrial Designer. :)

Hmmm, I'm not quite sold on this. I like the interior. I like the engine. I like the manual transmission. But I'm not really that excited about the exterior. It looks a little off from some angles. I will have to see the production version in person I suspect.

I think it would've been cool if they took up the bumper in the new design, so I did a photoshop:

I was thinking the same thing. The grille is the same general styling as the original. The bar across would clean it up.

The profile is excellent, but I daresay the existing 370Z had an attractive profile. Visibility looks like it will still be awful. Hopefully they nail the tactile elements. I really did not like the seat, steering wheel, clutch and shifter on the 370Z.

Wonder if those front and rear calipers will make it to the production model?

Since the original Z had a square opening, would something as simple as a bumper make everyone feel better?

It's simply too big and looks like a giant maw. The chrome bumper wouldn't meet impact standards, but anything to reduce the height of it would help visually. As it is that looks like something large dogs could get stuck in.

Edit: I do love the disco era ZX visual styling on your rendering, though. No, I wouldn't want one that way. :)

I'm really curious to see how those seats grope me when I sit in them.

I'll definitely be looking to sit in them as soon as I can

The whole internet seems to be calling this a 350/370 refresh, and I sincerely want what those guys are smoking cause I don't see that at all. This is a much more elongated design and this doesn't have that super-wide beefy look in the back like the 350/370 do. This is a much bigger homage to old Japanese sports car, which is a HUGE deal IMO. Not that I don't like the 350/370, but this is much more attractive to someone like me who loves some Japanese sports car nostalgia (and owns an 86 RX-7).

I love the glassback design. The taillights are good and much better than those early renders would suggest, but something is still a bit off about them to my eye. Perhaps the size or the fact that it is very different from the front design. I think they were trying to mesh 240Z elements with 300ZX elements and it just... I don't know can't put my finger on it. It is still nice though.

Pretty much every single render in this thread fixing the front grille would be better than what they have. I am sure they will change it once they see that it's what everyone's talking about. Otherwise the front is good, I just hope the headlights don't look tinier than what they do in photos because they are pretty small.

Interior is so-so. I like the colour treatments and seats. The steering wheel is a classic design, but a bit too busy with switchgear. Don't love that everything is just screens screens screens, but at least we get traditional HVAC. Hopefully the quality makes up for the parts that I don't like.

I believe the powertrain is pretty much exactly what we want. Hopefully there will be a more affordable 4-cyl option or some N/A option, but otherwise pretty perfect. This thing will definitely rip and give the Supra a run for its money. It is also much more attractive than the Supra, and I don't dislike the Supra.

I haven't stepped foot in a Nissan dealer in years. Do they still suck? I know some Toyota dealers aren't great either, but that would be a big selling point for me personally. Otherwise, if the price is right, this is a genuine option and I could see this replacing my Mustang if the trunk is as practical as it looks. If it's too expensive, I'm still waiting on the second gen 86.

PS: I hope a moonroof is available. I know they have never been (probably to make room for the roadster), but it would really be nice. It is one of the very few things on my 86 cons list.

Lots of bits being picked.

One thing to consider: I think it’s a lot better looking than the Supra, but I also expect it to undercut the (I6) Supra by a pretty fair margin. Figure +/- $40k for the Z, versus $50-60k for Supra? $10-20k forgives a ton of flaws.

Photochop fix for the odd looking grille.

I like this a lot. I also understand the actual squared-off design Nissan has, since it's what the original car had. But there's something so off-putting about the look from dead ahead that makes this p-chop more appealing.

And I'm seeing a lot of talk that this car is clearly based on the existing one, but I doubt Nissan could afford a ground-up new chassis, and I haven't seen any complaint about the current chassis. With the tt motor this oughta be a real player.

I like everything but the grill.

And a new sports car option is always a good thing .
Gosh its sooo bad. Reminds me how Toyota ruined the front of the supra.... but those are just my opinions :D

I suspect that darker colors will help with the grille opening if Nissan decides to leave it as is.

I actually like it. I definitely see the aforementioned Vantage/AM cues, especially on profile shots and clearly see S13/S14 240sx from the back. And at least Nissan knows to put a manual in there! Hopefully the exhaust note sounds better than the 350Z and it doesn't weigh as much as it looks like it does .
