Well instead of just talking about ti all the time, i've finally made a descision (which i'll probably change in a few weeks anyways) to buy some springs for now.
I got a set of 4 Lovells Springs which are the Sport Spring variety.
Basically its a stiffer spring and lowers the car by about an inch.
It should help on the cornering (only slightly, but enough to be noticed) - i know i've never heard of lovells either but they came highly recommended and they were about $150 cheaper than anything else i was looking at!
I'm getting it done tomorrow (20th November - Yay McHappy day!) so i'll be sure to post some "before and after" shots.

Sweet pics rob...
well they'll have to take the place of my lowered shots - i didn't get the car lowered... i stayed out till 6 in the morning on friday night/saturday morning, got up at 10 to take my car to the shop and i was still drunk.

so got back in be and slept till sunday.

i'll be going this weekend to get the car dropped... so i'll have pics after this weekend!
in the meantime, look at robs pics.... cos that's the closest i got to any lowered vw's last weekend!

i've been thinking the same thing... but i'm not in it solely for the looks as I use it for work ad i'm generally on the road about 4 - 5 hours every day.... so practicality and not scraping all the time is a big issue for me...
but we shall see, i'll probably get the 1 inch drop and think - ahh bugger practicality lets drop it another 2 inches

no, why?
i did get a talking to from a cop about my bike rack/bikes covering the number plate, that's all...
the only hassle is when you park at night, there are no reflectors, so i just leave the parking light on instead so ppl can see me

there are reflectors but, it would have been illegal for hella to make them if they didnt

Rob, do you have a photo of the bike rack or details? I assume its fits nicely on the Golf otherwise you wouldn't be using it.

yeah, i got a absolute beaut "clip on" bike rack by thule.... it is so so secure.... and fits perfectly... like it was made for a golf... certainly ain't one of the dodgy strap on jobs
roof rack world in artarmon sell it.... just look 'em up on the thule site
also... my lights did come with reflectors.... but no, i didn't fit 'em cause they look poxy

Ok Finally got it done, but stoopid me forgot to take my camera!

just a bit of feed back as well... all in all got the springs for $280 for all 4, fitment took about an hour (not including lunch stop).
The look of the car is incredible! here i thought it'd sit an inch lower... it sits more like 2 inches lower! it honestly is a bit Too dumped... but it looks really really good! even with stock wheels! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Handling has improved by 200% with hardl any body roll when making corners really really fast... i didn't change the shocks, just the springs..... anyway enough of me, here are the pics! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

REAR: About to be put back together.... we had to compress the old ones to get them out... but the new ones slotted right in with about an inch clearance!

it's a great height and the ride is unreal, only issue is scraping around everywhere!

but like anything different, it just takes time to get used to it....

looks sweet - just take care with the scrapping or bottoming out - the engine sump is aluminium and can easily punchure it

on that note, has anyone notices that on the old 2.0 SE's the oil sunmp is a differnt model and shape than on the 2.0 SPORT, only reason i know this is that i ripped the oil sump off my 2.0 SE about 6 months ago, and when i got the new 2.0 SPORT it looks different.... anyone else had a look at their sumps lately?

Looks good mate. Still thinking about lowering my Bora, but money a bit tight. The Lovells are certainly cheap!!
