Give Hardey a call. Describe the problem to him in more detail and see what he says.
I can't say if it's safe, but if it's just smoking a little and not over-heating (watch that for sure) since white smoke usually means either water or with bad gaskets, coolant in the exhaust, I would say it's fine for that short drive.
Be sure you don't over-heat it though...

Maybe check your coolant level when the engine is cold before you go too.
