New wheels 16 or 17....which are better?

I want to know what are peoples feelings about having either 16 or 17 inch wheels. I used to have '89 GLI that had Racing Hart 16's and the ride was good and not too rough. I've heard that 17's on a MK2 is too big, but I've seen a lot of people with them. Can anyone confirm which size is better?

IMO it depends on the wheel. But most importantly, buy what YOU like.

Id say 16s for the PNW roads. Even with my 16s, the ride was real harsh. I personally think 15s are perfect for a mix of driveability/cost/looks. Part of the reason I ditched my 16s

I plan on having either a set of Koenig or Tramont (five star).

16's. You can go lower easier.

16s less rubbing problems thicker tires smoother ride less rotational mass you know stuff like that
plus you can lower it more
I like 15s on an A2 but sometimes 17s are super nice
