Rumors has it that Nissan will bring this wagon here to pit against our B5 variants:

Looks like a cross between the Volvo V70 & some Chrysler prototype I've seen somewhere.
This wagon also comes in AWD with V6 turbo.
Here are some more pix:

Re: Nissan Stagea (VW'ed)

Doesn't the Stagea share the Skyline motor? Will that mean it may come here as a Infiniti and down tuned or non turbo?
Re: Nissan Stagea (VW'ed)

The back of that this is ugly.
look at the one it gt2 its worse.
Re: Nissan Stagea (VW'ed)

Those cars are sweet. Very nice design from a mechanical standpoint. This is a Nissan I would consider. Extremely functional. And the best part, rear drive.

Yes, in the right form it could be a GT-R in wagon's clothing.

Re: Nissan Stagea (Coolwhite Fox)

The Stagea shares everything with the Skyline - it is basically a Skyline wagon (though the Laurel midsize sedan is also based on that platform). There was a GT-R powered version of the previous generation produced in very limited numbers called the Stagea 260RS, an RS2/RS4 sort of thing.
However - the car pictured, that might be sold here, shares a platform with the NEW Skyline, just released in Japan. This new Skyline (V35 chassis) has no GT-R variant, in fact no turbo at all! Standard engine is a 2.5 V6, optional 3.0 V6, both DOHC with direct injection producing about 200 and 260hp respectively. When it reaches the US the engine will be the same as the new 350Z and similar to the new Altima and Maxima, the VQ35DE producing 255hp or more.
The Stagea AWD does get a low pressure turbo in the interest of torque. That engine is basically a turbo version of the previous Maxima's 3.0. RWD Stageas have the same engine lineup as the new Skyline, and presumably that would carry to the US as well.

Re: Nissan Stagea (AKADriver)

AKADriver,
The Skyline platform will host a variety of different cars, including the 350Z, Skyline, Stagea and V35 GTR.
This platform exclusively uses variations of the VQ series V6 engine, of which the Stagea "Allroad" uses a 2.5l turbocharged version. It does not use the old 3.0l VG series Maxima engine.
The AWD Stagea and AWD Skyline sedan also use the same AWD drivetrain system that will be featured in the upcoming GTR. Namely, it is RWD until slip is detected and then it begins feeding power to the front wheels.
There is a VQ30DET engine (3 liter turbo VQ V6) that is used in one of Nissan's Japan only sedans as well.
So, the VQ engine series has been turbocharged already. There will most probably be a turbocharged version of the 350Z in about a year, and the new GTR will have a 3.5l twin turbocharged version of the VQ engine outputting about 400hp.
Re: Nissan Stagea (Rob)

The new turbo is the VQ25DET, which is meant to compete against Toyota's Mark II 2.5 I6 turbo. The Mark II will spawn a wagon version coming out any day now, things will surely get interesting

Re: Nissan Stagea (AKADriver)

The Stagea is based on the new Skyline, but the Laurel is based on the older Skyline with the RB engines. Gimme a Laurel Medallist Premiere with 2.5 turbo

Re: Nissan Stagea (David Votoupal)

Hey David,
is that Mark II any good? They look decent
Re: Nissan Stagea (lip)

We don't get the Mark II here (officially), unfortunately though surely grey imports will come

But anyway, the Mark II is one of Toyota's best-sellers on the domestic market and one of the most popular drift sedans there. And why not, when you considering RWD, a turbo engine option, tuning a walk in the park, and a reasonable price (with space and luxury).

Re: Nissan Stagea (VW'ed)

If the US gets a version of this wagon with a manual transmission I'll eat my hat.

Better yet, I might buy it.

Re: Nissan Stagea (PhilHVW)

At the moment it looks like all of them are automatics (though at least they've got tiptronic)...

Phuck yeah!! Those things rock.

Really? That's disappointing. A manual turbo would rock. This wagon is just too cool.

According to this article, it comes offered with a 5-speed manual... as well as AWD and 280 hp. I love it, though I'm not sure how much interest the rest of North America would have for it.

Re: Nissan Stagea (Euro Flavor)

i like these new designs that are coming out of nissan. they all kinda remind me of the Q45 (aka Cima) but they are fresh and interesting to look at, yet retain some tradmark cues.
