Nitrous Plus Your Chip, I have the answer!!!!!

Ok I posted about this but hadnt fully researched it. I spoke with MSD today and this is what I found out. MSD Ignition part # 8970 is desinged to work specificly with N20. It retards your timing ONLY when you spray so you can enjoy your chip when not using your juice. I called around looking for a price and I got a quote of $141 for it.

I_Fly - I talked to that guy @ VWAddiction.com and he told me he has an UP chip with the nitrous. He dont need to retard anything. Of course if u want to run more juice u might need to.

Good news for you and everyone interested. I just set up a Jobber account with NOS and should be getting my price guide in the next 10 days. I will give discounts to everyone!!!! I hooks you up

1BadazzVR6- I saw the post where he said that, I would like to run a shot larger than that and even if I didnt I would still prefer to have my timing retarded. Honestly the added peace of mind is worth $140 to me.

I_Fly - how much more are you planning on running? I planned about 100 @ the very most ... yet I will also use the boost retarder from MSD as well...
I thought u meant with a 50hp shot ...

Ok, I am still waiting for my catalog and I may go back to doing a direct port setup. I wanted to run turbo but I dont have time to cut the front end of my car off this month.

I will post prices for dry,wet, and direct port setups as well as try and work something with MSD for a good deal on #8970. My nitrous knowledge is limited but I am learning. If you have any questions I will try to answer them or contact the experts and http://www.holley.com

Well this sucks, I just got off the phone with NOS and they said they have NOTHING for fly by wire VW's. they hope to have something later this year. This doesnt make to much sense to me as I have seen 2 vortexers with NOS kits. I am going to call around and see if I can get more info. I will also be calling NX and Zex to see what they have to offer.

A couple of things....:

You wont be able to get the MSD timing retard to work unless you go to aftermarket engine management
Just because NOS doesn't make a specific kit for your car doesn't mean you can't use it
Direct port is a great way to go, but not for an inexperienced use such as yourself

See thats what I have been wondering, I really didnt know anything about the MSD untill NOS told me that I would want to look into it. When you say aftermarket engine management do you mean stand alone??
I figured as much as far as the NOS kit goes.
I have no idea where my 12v post went.
