no boost with apr 2.5in dp
i had this installed about a week ago, very nice piece, but it has really caused some problems.
i was told that the ko3 compressor works well with a downpipe, but with software only. Let me tell u what is happening. I lost quite a bit of hp, at wot, the waste gate opens way sooner and bleeds off boost. it has gotten very jerky at wot, like i am getting too much boost, then at about 3500 rpms, the wastgate opens fully and no boost! very dissapointing. i had my ecu vaged and the codes were pointing to too much boost, so i am in limp mode most of the time since i drive the car floored a lot. Please tell me what i should do?

yeah that is not very clear, what i mean is that the giac1.1 chip does not work well with anything other than the stock downpipe. the ecu has max allowable boost and when this is exceeded, the wastegate stays open. with a stock downpipe, this preset boost limit is never reached, but with a 2.5 in downpipe or greater, the turbo spools up much faster and even exceeds the limit set by the giac software. i had the vag tool done of friday and it said i was throwing codes pertaining to this.
i dont know since i dont have a vag tool, gotta rely on velocit sport tuning. this above is basically what they were saying on friday when they vaged my car.
anyway i am thinking about puttin the stock downpipe back on.

Maybe you should try updating your software first.
It seems like an awful waist of time/$$$/potential to just bolt the stocker back on...

Ditto -- there are plenty of guys here with GIAC and 2.5 or 3" downpipes without any problems!

sorry to hear about your troubles, but thats definitely not the problem you're having. I have GIAC's 1.1 bar chip and my car runs fine with either of the two 3" dowpipes i have. In fact the car runs so much smoother with the 3" dp compared to the stock dp. You car may have throwing codes, but there's got to be something else causing them cause it's not your chip!Re: no boost with apr 2.5in dp (20VT*J4)
