I've got one. Just put it in this past Saturday.

The install can be a huge pita due to a metal sleeve in that section of piping where the plug goes. In order to get that sleeve out you need to buy an expansion plug 1 1/4" to 1 3/8" from autozone or someplace. Then warm the car up, insert the plug, tighten it, and pull as hard as possible. The sleeve should come right out.

Raven's plug fits perfect and isn't going anywhere. I immediately noticed an increase in throttle response and the cabin is much quieter now which I like. Plus it's nice to get rid of all that noise piping in the engine bay. Looks so much cleaner, and I was able to run my lines even better for my BSH Comp catch can.

If you are concerned about it flying out you can install the plug and reinstall all of the noise piping. This way the plug has no place to go if it lets loose.

The little screws he provides have textured ends on them to keep the plug in place. Just don't over tighten them or they will pop right through the piping.

Getting rid of the noise pipe has nothing to do with the intake.

The noise pipe was VW's lame idea to add extra piping to the engine which funnels engine noise into the cabin. Well extra piping is good for no one. What this plug does is plug up the piping and then you can ditch the piping all together for a cleaner looking bay, or put the piping back on. If you put the piping back on the noise pipe is still plugged up, but it looks like stock. Either way you reap the benefits of the engine not having to "fill up" that extra piping. This gives you better throttle response.

I used a 2.5" rubber pipe cap. Cost $2! I have an APR flash which runs about 17psi. It has been on for 9 months without a problem. You can use a 3" pipe cap to plug the hole at the fire wall.

Raven's plug is good if you don't want your dealer to know about it. I have a modification friendly dealer!

I'm sure it gives a little, but the rubber is fairly stout. I am tempted to keep a spare on hand if it does blow!

I had tried something else first which did come off. CEL light came on and the engine ran poorly, but I drove home and had no problem.

This is not a knock aganist Raven's plug - they are well made - but one guy didn't screw it on tight enough, it blew off and dented his hood. So he says.

Rubber won't do that!

Correct rubber won't blow off and dent your hood.

I know who you are talking about and what happened was this:

Raven released the original TSI plug that fit inside the metal sleeve contained within the noise pipe. Since that metal sleeve is REALLY in there he figured it would stay in there. Well for a couple people the plug and metal sleeve let loose. After that happened he redesigned the plug and you now have to remove the metal sleeve from the noise pipe to install the plug.

Also if someone's plug blew out due to installation error you can't fault the actual plug.

I'm pretty sure there are people running his plug for a couple years now with it solidly in place.

Where did you pick up the rubber cap? I would like to place one over the plug so that it doesn't stand out as much.
