BUT
I don't know where to start from. The distributor cap I have doesn't have any markings to show where to start. I think it's in the flat part to the left(it looking with flat part pointing upwards)
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe you are correct, good sir. With that established, from what I can recall of the SB Chevy's I've owned in th past, they've been (clockwise) 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
