All I have been thinking about for the past few months is getting the new 24V VR6 and the 6-speed. Now I just found out that it won't have any more torque than my current 12V VR6.
Now, I realize that if you chip a 1.8t, you can get a bit over 200hp and around 240 ft/lbs of torque, so it seems that the 1.8t might indeed be the better way to go (with the over 60 ft/lbs of torque advantage), since I doubt the 6-speed on the VR6 would make up the difference.
My question is, how does chipping affect the drivability. More specifically, does it cause more lag? One of the things I really like about the VR6 is the smooth power application. It helps give the car a more "expensive" feel. Will I be disappointed with a chiped 1.8t? I know the stock 1.8t has a very broad torque peak. Does the chipped 1.8t maintain this, or does it become more peaky?
Thanks for all the help!
