Did my first autox today, and had a blast. This guy was there, his car was insane. Had a super vee race engine (or somthing like that, 1.6 liters, 180 hp), and weighed 1600 lbs!
It was badass

Re: Now that's an autocross car!!! (stl4310)

Good eye, that's basically as quick as a Rabbit gets on an autocross course, ever. That's the Kevin Wenzel/Iain Mannix EP Rabbit. Wenzel took second at Nationals last year (his first full development year with this car), and closed in on John Thomas (the perennial EP class winner) better than anybody else has managed to do in about a decade. Yes, it's a Bertil's engine, and that's consistent with the level of prep on the rest of the car. Have fun watching them all year.

any more pics of it???
Also, for enlightenment, who is Bertil and what's the good thing about his engines (aside from 180 hp out of 1.6L)?

Join the vwautox group on yahoo and ask them all about it. Between their driving and that car, I predict they'll take over EP very soon. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I could spend all day looking at those pics, oh wait I did

Yeah, no joke. I'm completely fascinated with the front suspension.

Aren't there double wishbones in the rear??

I didn't notice them if there are?
EDIT: Looked again and now I'm fascinated w/ the whole suspension.

Nope - just the plain old twist-beam semi-trailing-arm setup. Thanks for the kind comments from everyone, although you guys seem to have more confidence in my ability to catch Thomas than I do... One other note: Iain isn't regularly driving the car any more, and my brother Keith (featured in that picture) is now the co-driver.

Hey, better you than me chasing the guy. He's flat out good. I don't even need for you to beat him. I just dig that your effort is at least making him work for it now. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
