Numbered dash plaque

Cars will be numbered via a dash plaque
OK, I get it.
4000 USA customers get cars #'ed 1 thru 4000 and the 200 CANADIAN customers get zip, zilch, zero, nothing.
I think Canadian dealers should be looking into this discrepancy.

they should have continued the numbers i think past 4000 all the way to 4200 or at least change the backround color of the dash number from black to red.....like the canadian flag ey? hahah would have been cool
Re: (SeXy20th)

Good answer, I would agree.
The dealer, knew nothing about the #'s.
I will find out the VIN # of the car as http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=877725 is saying that they are using the last 4 digits
I see some Canadian's are riding in low #'s (as per site above(scroll to bottom)) suggesting they are buying stateside???
eh!
i heard of many people up in montreal buying 20ths from states like ny and vermont hey anything is possible, but it must be a hassle to crossover the miles gauge to kilometers!!!!
Re: (SeXy20th)

I'm guessing the USA cars have only miles on the odometer; cars in Canada have both kms/miles.
Re: Numbered dash plaque (2002tdi)

Well I am in Saint Paul, Minnesota and I didn't get a numbered dash plaque with my BMP 20AE.
When my car came in my salesperson told me that it came with the wrong one and VWoA told him the correct one was on its way. Last week the manager told me it never came with one and he is trying to get in touch with VWoA. I don't understand it.
Its not a big deal but I'm tired of having that gap in my center console. I called VWoA Customer Service today. They gave me a case number and said they would contact the dealership.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Hang in there I am sure it will all work out, and just relax the 20AE for now and enjoy your 1969 Karmann Ghia

We really should have gotten a dash plaque. And yes i'm angry we didn't get it.

The red background would have been an excellent idea. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Numbered dash plaque (liquid stereo)

Would you think the dealer brought in the car from Canada??
If USA cars only have miles on the odometer the dealer would only have had to change out the speedo head/ gearing.
Re: Numbered dash plaque (2002tdi)

I have no idea, but that's an interesting suggestion. The window sticker states that it was sold and shipped to my dealer by VW of America. So this suggests that it is not a Canadian car.
I'd like to know the real story though. Hopefully its nothing complicated.

Not only does Canada not suck (or blow for that matter), it totally beautiful. IMHO, Montreal is definitely one of the top 3 cities in NA and Toronto rocks!
I'm taking my BMP 20AE up to Thunder Bay, Ontario in a few weeks. I'm hoping to have both my numbered dash plaque, and the 3M invisible bra on by then.

This weekend is all Ghia. On Saturday morning I bleed the brakes and then its all driving. Its going to be an "experience" going from the stopping power of the 20AE to the 1969 Karmann Ghia. The acceleration won't be very different. The car has a heavily modified Corvair flat-6 powering it

I agree 100%. If you crossed NYC and Paris, Montreal is what you would get. I went to college roughly an hour and a half from Montreal and we went there all the time. I go up every year for the Canadian Grand Prix. A truly wonderful place.
As far as not having numbered dash plaques, that blows. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Re: Numbered dash plaque (Androoos)

You're absolutely right about Montreal. Plus there are lots of VWs there. It was on one of my annual trips to the Canadian GP that I saw my first Mk IV. They always get the new VWs before we do.
I spoke with the dealer last week and he told me the Numbered dash plaque will be here in a month. We'll see...
