Lou..
John is the man who chipped me.. Good Guy..
- freaked him out with my suspension.
He lives a ways down in Jersey, but you may be able to make arrangements with him to meet up in Jersey City if he still works there. If so, I'll go with you if there are any problems

But seriously... IMHO, I like APR, but not a big fan of their local dealers. Though Adrenalin I like (their dyno sucks).. but they are too far. Maybe if we did another GTG/dyno day.. it would be worth it.. GIAC's good too.. but not sure where you can get it besides AWE in Philly. I don't want to tell you what to buy.. but I'm happy with my Upsolute.. except that it's only .8 bar *Cough Cough* (get on the ball there UPS)..
But the new ones are all on par with the other chip tuners. (You're a 2002/AWP so you're all set.. bastard.. you'll be faster than me.
)

edit - Let me clarify what I mean when I say that Adrenalin's dyno sucks.. as was pointed out to me, their dyno "is one of the most expensive dyno's on the market and has features that no other dyno comes with. It's the only drive on load all-wheel-drive dyno in the states right now. "
Being the only dyno like it, it makes it difficult to compare dyno runs from different tuners (i.e. you can now go to two different tuners, with the same brand dyno, and you're likely to get similar results.) As such, it sucks for me because I'd have to always go there to get dyno'd and they aren't really convinient to me, or to steez.

APR selling for $700-$750+tax (stock-93 oct switcharoo...) I dont appreciate that
I really wanted to get it locally doesnt look that way tho... I got $550 or so

Guess NYC is not big enough to have its own local chip tuner

Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (steez)

I live in Minnesota for gods sake even we get our own UP rep.
I can't believe no local reps. in NYC thats silly. The AWE guys have been nice when I've called about getting the GIAC upgraded in my new car. Good luck! BTW can't Ventodan or Snowbird or one of the "big guys" out that way just pull chips out of their butts for local guys?

that's so funny, but dan would probably say take the troop to AWE.
as for a local rep, rapid parts is a dealer of APR, and i think that there is also a dealer in jersey that does giac
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (rreimund)

even with .8bar, our AWD chip was withen 1hp of GIAC, as was the APR chip back at the dyno day where we tested all 3 chips. As rreimund said your 2001 holds the same boost as the others.
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (jim wilson)

If u want.. go to PES in Flemmington.. Or.. Rapid is a APR software dealer as well.. as Anthony Said..
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (ventodan)

Steez shoot over to Rapid and get yourself the APR chip the new 93 program is smoooooth I'm lovin it. Thats one option you can also wait until spring/summer I'm sure that APR will be offering great deals at shows where they throw in all the options for free. But in the end its up to you bro. You can take out the ECU yourself and save some money like that.
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (ventodan)

FYI - I cover NYC, NJ and PHilly, tell me a time, I will be there.

john is a nice guy. i recommend him and upsolute. very good csr service.
also i think pes moved to philly
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (steez)

Got to pay to play......all I have to say.
If you want to be able to go to the dealer and not have any problems with them saying "you know you voided your warrantee....blablabla"
APR is the only one

All the shops out here only cater to asian imports and alot of them don't even know sh!t except altezzas and LED window squirters.
Steez, I'm looking for the same chips as you but will probably holdout until one of them come to a local show or event.

And torque figures were.....?
Certainly not within 1 ft/lbs of each other. You posted graphs.
Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (steez)

So you guys think we need a NYC APR dealer???
I've been talking to a local tuner on Staten Island, NYC who's does the work on my Audis about why they should become a local APR dealer.
http://www.rippmods.com
They are pretty well know for their 240hp NA honda motors, but want to get out of that market(they have a 9second trubo integra drag car, so they are familiar with turbo cars) They are also developing a turbo kit for the latest generation of Eclipses.
Right now they have my TT and we're thinking of doing the StageIII kit on it...my TT is slower than my allroad, which seems just plain wrong!!!
Wouldn't it be nice to have an NYC dealer who could do the installs too!
What do you guys think, does NYC/NJ have a strong enough VW/Audi market?

you're kidding yourself if you think that your chip is undetectable.
there are no undetecable chips
program switching is certainly useful, but none of the apr features make it invisible...

thanks John A, I did not want to have to mention that and then start something. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (John Achille)

You can try PES in NJ, I didn't hear anything about them moving, only big downside to them is that you have to pay for upgrades. Stick with AWE free lifetime upgrades, great customer service, and programming coming from the GIAC

Re: NYC, CHIP, Where to go (VWMike81)

i went to ripp with my last car and they @#$%^*me. i would never in a million years go there.poor quality, poor csr service, and poor pricing. i hope they have improved. mike

Granted that is true to the extent that with an APR chip the dealer need to rip the ECU out of the car and open it up, but Not many dealers that I know have the time or the patience to do somethign liek that so for me it is undetecable.
