Recently I did a motor swap on my 1997 Jetta 2.0. My tranny has approximately 120k - 130k miles on it. The motor I just installed has 65k miles on it along with the cluster I installed. Now my question is is when I get it inspected (NY) do I need to bring my old cluster to swap it with my current one to show an approx accurate amount of miles from my last inspection? Because I'm afraid they won't let me use my new cluster being its about half the amount of miles on it than are actually on the tranny. Anyone know what I'm better off doing to get it inspected?

I would NOT bring the cluster and just let them
do thier thing and dont worry about the
true milage...Just get the sticker so you dont
have any ticket problems...

NY is all about emissions & in your case, CEL. As long as those 2 things are good, you should be good. All they gonna is 1) scan your registration, plug in the scan port, slide in the sniffer and press this thing (i dunno what it is) on your hood.

I agree with Red too....Let them do their thing.

when they plug the car in it pulls up a history, they are going to see most likely that the car had 120xxx miles on it and question why now it has 65k. also they send everything to the dmv which will raise flags there as well.
