OEM Seat Brembo Brake Kit?

1206 Views 19 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Imola Yellow GTi
Are the OEM Brembo from the Seat Ibiza Cupra R a direct replacement for our MkIV VW's?
If so how can we raid the Seat parts bin?

Can anybody source part numbers? I heard the kits are like 1000 UK pounds...that's a hefty price..320mm in front and 256mm in back.

I found it on the seat leon forums...i forgot the url to that site, but i've still yet to get parts numbers from that site or anywhere. I'm not even sure which brembo pistons those are and if we can take it from the porsche parts bin (996 calipers? - perhaps). And another thing, the seat leon cupra R comes w/ 16" wheels, so it might have been using stock spacers or a weird offset on the wheel.
Most importantly right now are sourcing the caliper carriers, it's easier to source the calipers and rotors off some other place, then get the addt'l parts numbers for misc. bolts and lines. I'm still thinking this would cost in the neighborhood of 1,500 to get it right.

All right guys, I'm heading to the Seat dealership tonight. I am all over this if its true...

Yes please share the wealth of knowledge!
If one gets the calipers and discs... why not get the whole kit... great thing IT'S OEM !!!
Try to imagine the questions your dealer would ask when they see those sweeties on your ride!
I thought the Leon Cupra R's wheels are 18" OZ's made to VW OEM specifications?

Ok, I have some early info just to keep your mouth watering.
From the Seat dealer: "Yes, the new Cupra R uses Brembo calipers and rotors" as stated earlier in this post. Unfortunately, he could only confirm that they were available for the front. They are in fact the exact same brakes used on the Porsche 911, just badged differently. The going price is over 2200 euro for "OEM" pieces. A little too rich for my blood considering I can get an actual Porsche kit from ECS for about 800$ less.
I do not have any specific info as to wheel offset. I do not have a part # because it would be like you asking for part numbers on a GTI 337. Its still too new over here. They don't have complete literature yet. I am still pursuing this though and I will keep you informed. For more info or to dig for answers yourself, check out http://www.seatcupra.net
Its an enthusiast site for the UK. Good luck and I'll be back soon...
Re: OEM Seat Brembo Brake Kit? (Crash6)

From the pics, I've seen the rears are also Brembo.
Re: OEM Seat Brembo Brake Kit? (2001Bora)

If you can get a parts number for the caliper carrier, that would be great. I'm sure that we can source those calipers individually, as well as 320mm rotors for the front. Other misc. hardware pieces we will have to get ourselves through the dealer.
I almost won auctions for calipers - but didn't pursue it further b/c of missing carriers:
porsche boxster (black ECS): 230/front pair
porsche boxster S (red 996): 270/front pair

What is the minimal wheel size for 305 mm diameter disk brakes?
Can any aftermarket Brembo caliper fit with the use of OEM carriers from the Seat Leon Cupra R?
