Move over Ford Police Interceptor and Dodge Charger. There's a new entry in the coolest cruiser contest and it looks like the clear winner.

It's a Volkswagen Golf R, but it's not just any R. This one's been modified by German tuner Oettinger. That means big changes for the MK 7 Golf. Like an extra 90 hp, bringing the total to a nice, round 400 with 369 lb-ft to back it up. That means 0-60 mph in under four seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. It's a bigger power boost than a base Golf 1.0 TSI police car makes in total.

This Golf R got more than just power, of course, it also has a lowered suspension, massive wheels, and an Oettinger body kit that adds a splitter, side skirts, and a new rear bumper.

It also has the sharp blue and silver German police markings with some extra bright neon trim to make it even more visible. Plus the big blue lights sticking out the roof.

This one won't see duty with the real Polizei, though. It's a one-off built for the Essen auto show as part of the Tune it! Safe! campaign run by police and tuners to keep fast cars legal and safe.
