Off Set Question....

I plan on purchasing 17x8 wheels and I want at least 1.5" lip. What off set should I get for the front and rear? I'm thinking of going with 35mm front and 32mm rear. Is this advisable? By the way I have a 2000 Jetta with stock brakes.
