Oil burn, cylinder 1 knock..HELP!

I have an occasional knock on cylinder 1 it tends to go away as the water temp rises to normal operating temp, and I recently went to 10-40 That kind helped...suggestions? comments?

what kind of knock? spark knock? rod knock? under heavy acceleration or loads? more info would help...miles too

idle speed knock, sounds low...main bearing? mabye...however, could it possibly be from the a/c compressor? previous owner tepped a snowbank hard enough to rupture a line and let go all of the refrigerant.
I can't really tell...
158 K and I just bought the car about 1 1/2 months ago.
planning an engine (bottom end) swap, but I need to get through the vermont winter.

probably hydraulic lifter tap... need to replace some lifters, normal for the miles...
