Why the oil change cost is so different from dealer to dealer.
My dealer in Lincoln, Ne wants 105 dlls + TAX and using my own oil.
Maybe I have to fight a little bit with the service manager.
Only if you take your TDI to the dealer, let me know how much they charge you.
I've know a lot of you change the oil, but I can't do it by myself.
Thanks

Are you a member at Freds TDI Page? if not maybe you would like to become one. Members are very helpful, you might be able to find another TDIer who could either show you how to change the oil or do it for you. My .02 cents worth.

My shop of choice in Jefferson charges me $18 and change to change my oil. I bring the oil, they get the filter from NAPA.
After getting quoted $70 for a replacement battery cable I am going to avoid going back to a VW dealer if at all possible.
If you can take Friday off, you could come to the mini GTG in Des Moines. I'm sure an oil change would not be out of the question.

My dealership, Gorman-McCraken in Longview Texas, only charges $50 for a TDI oil change with their Castrol Syntec 5w-40.
Of course I use Amsoil and change my own oil. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Try to find an independant mechanic that will change the oil for you. I wouldn't trust a "quickie lube" place.

I think I found the best way to avoid the dealership cost.
If TexasVWdriver can explain me the steps to change the oil and what I need and what can of filter I have to buy, I can use one of my friends shop and change the oil by myself. I spoke with him yesterday and he told me "ask for the correct instructions to do it and we can do it here in my shop." so here I am asking your help.
Can you do that for me, it will be a very god experience for me and my friend, because he can start doing business changing the TDI oil.
So if you can help me, please like a cooking recipe tell me all the steps to change the oil.
Thanks and hopefully I can do it without problem like everybody else.
Salud !!!!

Thanks PackRat
Too bad I can't make it this Friday, but keep my email and maybe some other time I can drive to a GTG and meet others TDI. [email protected]
With TEXASVWDRIVER help maybe I can change my oil by myself using one of my friends shop.
But if you know what kind of filter your shop use, I'll try to get one here in Omaha.
Thanks for the info and in case I can't do it, maybe I can drive to Jefferson and you can take me to the same shop you use and change the oil ther is only 125 miles from Omaha, not too bad.

Thanks for the info.
