I understand that the 1.8T motor LOVES to guzzle oil. I carry a litre of 0W40 at all times and pour in a litre almost monthly when the "low oil" warning light goes off. There are no visible leaks in the motor. I'm in the process of tracking the milage to see what the intervals are for the re-fills. It seems to be almost a month of fairly regular driving but I don't have mileage data yet. Does this all sound normal?

My wives 1.8 TFSi (CDAA) doesn't use any noticable extra oil between oil changes, she does however only do around 7-8k km a year. When I last changed oil for it, it had only lost about 0.5-0.8 liters of oil on 7-8k km.
So if You do a lot of miles, could be that Your oil consumption is higher, I gues 0.5-1.0 l of oil per 1000 km would count as normal.

If it was a city driving, than yeah, that would be a better way for her to move around in summer, but it's 95% highway, so no scooter for her.
