These are the prices I got from a local dealership..
OilPan - $145.00
Sealant - $25.00
Labor - around 2 hours about $120
Re: Oil pan Broke How much? (Jettaway)

would something like that be covered under warranty?
Re: Oil pan Broke How much? (pman81)

I knock on wood as I say this but I'm dropped almost 3" and have bottomed out a couple times when I didn't see road problems ahead. Every time I've done it I've stopped and checked underneath and there's nothing leaking out. Did they make these things stronger in the 2002s or something because its still quite exposed.
Re: Oil pan Broke How much? (uv23)

BostonGTI - I bought mine for $120 and the sealant for $25 as well.
pman81 - Absolutely not, VW doesn't acknowledge the pan's location as a design flaw, therefore any damage that occurs to it is a fault of the driver or the road conditions... neither grounds for warranty coverage.
uv23 - Apparently there is some sort of skid plate/shielding on the '02s, I haven't looked into this, but I am interested in it.

Tuning Zubehor sells a skid plate for MKIV's but I was quoted $345.00.

Unless the shielding looks exactly like an oilpan, there isn't.
I took a good look when I got the coilovers installed. The standard black plastic skid guard does not cover the oilpan.

Ditto... just looked under my '02 GTI and the oil pan is naked.

Re: Oil pan Broke How much? (BostonGTI)

How are you going to get it to the dealership with no oil?
Just put it on jack stands in your driveway and do it yourself. That job is a no brainer. Just unbolt bad and bolt on new with gasket. Simple as that. Only tool needed is a socket wrench with correct socket.
