Anyone know of an easy way to replace the oil pan gasket on an 85 Golf? It seems as if there's two/three bolts that can't be reached because the tranny bell housing interferes? Anyone know of a work around?

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Replacement (gruven)

Pretty easy to do I have done it 4 times (don't ask
) Well anyway it isn't hard at all. Drop the pan, put on gasket, bolt up pan. Be carefull not to overtorque the bolts because this will cause leaks. Also make sure the matting surface is very clean and oil free especially if you are putting on a rubber gasket. You will need a allen key wrench with the ball end on it to get to the 2 bolts by the bell housing. Kind of hard to get to. Some how I changed it once without the ball end allen keys but I can't seem to do it without them now.
