This didn't get any action in the mk2 forum...
I have a vr from a 95 Corrado in my 89 gti and when I step on it I will start smelling oil a little bit... I noticed some seepage around the oil filter housing sensors, could that be it? Where else should I check?

Try checking around the back of the head and exhaust manifold area.

Would that be a head gasket thing?

is there oil in your coolant tank.
