check that your dizzy is in order... Hall sender and all that.
Have your boy come over with his Golf G60 and compare the wiring at the coil, since his runs

did you try your ECU in another car to see if it's still healthy?
is the ECU screwed together solidly? doesn't take much movement for the contacts not to jive.
If your ECU is healthy, you need to start tracing your harness... again. If you're getting fuel through the injectors, then you need to concentrate on the ignition side of things.
One quick way to check for power from the ECU would be to check the voltage at the WOT/IDLE plug. You should be seeing 5V at the WOT and Idle switch leads. Middle wire is a common ground.
