okok stoopid tranny question..

ok so i'm pullin my dfq tranny outta my 97 2.0 gti. i have everything loose...triple checked. i can't get it out because the cv joint flange is getting hung up on the flywheel on it's way out.i jacked up the motor pulled out the back mount and still no difference. it's soooo close to comin off but so far away.. can any 1 help??? do i have to really pull the flange??

You do not have to remove the flange to get the trans out! Turn the trans counterclockwise, ie. flange upward, then swing the trans out over the flywheel. It's a little hard to explain, but it will come out.

loosen the front mount too makes it even easier!!!

the front mount is off but not removed from the car..i'm thinkin this might make a difference on how low the engine is comin down. i tried turnin counterclockwise but it still doesn't seem to make it. maybe i need to go work out or somethin.doin some 12 oz. curls may help.
