I'll admit that I like to rip on Hyundais simply because I don't like how they look, however, this Tiburon actually looks okay in my book!

Nice, digging the wheels. Looks Kind of like a Celica, newer one.
I dunno if I would buy one though

Its looks like a junior baby Ferrari. Senior baby Ferrari goes to Peugeot 406 Coupe, however.

Have you been under a rock?

Yeah, the new tiburon is nice looking. I'm REALLY curious about it and want to test drive one when I see them at dealerships. Seems interesting with a decent warranty and a pretty stout V6. Hyundai may have quite a winner if the price and quality is right. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I test drove the GT V6 Tiburon (6 speed) yesterday with my friend. We both liked the car a lot. It is actually pretty fast with the V6. You can read more on my impressions in a thread somewhere below. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Contrary to popular belief, Pininfarina had nothing to do with the design of this car. It was styled by Hyundai's California design studio, which also developed the Santa Fe and is currently working on the next XG.

You can tell someone at Edmund's doesn't particularily care for Hyundai's:
quote:

Considering Hyundai's history of awkwardly proportioned machines, the new Tiburon counts as a breakthrough of sorts.
But the designers at Hyundai didn't quite know when to stop. Instead of leaving the shape to speak for itself, they added surface excitement and embellishments where they're just not needed. There's not one, but two non-functional side vents in each front fender. The headlights are compound projector beam units that don't need blisters on their leading edge, too. And while there's something inherently wicked/cool about fuel doors that look like quick-fill receptacles, it seems a distraction on this car. If they'd cut the overblown details down by, say 43 percent (leaving those side vent gills — after all, tiburon is Spanish for shark — but cutting back on some of the lower body cladding, for instance) those that remain would be better appreciated.

For a Hyundai, it's pretty impressive (as far as styling goes).
Re: OMG! A Hyundai that looks pretty good!??!?! (Blitzkrieg)

Looks awesome compare to the previous model IMO...and the six-speed thats offered doesnt hurt either http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

to bad that those tiburons are like rice templates around here (previous model). You can't see one without something grotesqe done to them.
Re: OMG! A Hyundai that looks pretty good!??!?! (Blitzkrieg)

I saw a new Red one downtown yesterday. Pretty cool. The entire car looks decent. I like the exhaust. The headlights are fun to look at too.
The car just sits well on it's wheels.
Hyundai should make this thing awd, a la Haldex-add another 30hp, and I think they might have a cult car.
Re: OMG! A Hyundai that looks pretty good!??!?! (Blitzkrieg)

It is handsome, in a kind of dated way. That design will look old next year. But I guess I'd rather have classic good looks than something grotesquely original (i.e. Azztek).
The sideview mirrors look like they were torn off an '89 911. They are beautiful on the 911....look like they're from the spare parts bin on this car.
Nice wheels though.

eh its pretty good looking I guess. Its light years ahead of the previous attrocity. For the price, its looks like it will be a good car.
Re: OMG! A Hyundai that looks pretty good!??!?! (boostn)

I test drove one today. Here are my thoughts:
The one I tested was black. Looks great in person. The pictures don't do it justice. It looks "chubby" in pictures, but it really isn't. Very nice lines. I didn't notice any of the crap Edmunds said (except the fuel door, which is a cute touch).
The interior is great. Nice, small, body-hugging seats that really feel good. Clean gauge setup. Nice dash -- sort of gives a "pod-racer" feel to the interior. Nice shift action.
Driving it was fun, but I was just a tad disappointed. The V6 is "peppy" but the car must be heavy because it doesn't have push like I thought it would. Flat powerband. Definitely will benefit from a free flowing exhaust and cams. Nice V6 growl (fairly muted). Handling is tight.
Ok, that's it.
