This guy next to my work, races old muscle cars. He had a 10.5 sec camaro. He tells this story that a while back at the track when he was considered "king of the hill" He lined up to race a scirocco 1. The crowded kind of laughed. He laughed. The light turns green. He takes of 1st, 2nd, and zoom the scirocco just flys by. The rocco did a 10.2 sec 1/4. Now thats better damn fast if you ask me. Do this day he still respects VW. The guy is a car enthusiast.

As for those Hennesy clips:
That was shot here in Texas near Houston. I have a friend at work who was there that day at the drag and was actually in a picture the next months Road and Track where they featured that Viper. They never actually got an accurate run that day cause as you could see it was raining, but that day there were supra's that would smoke that Viper. However, a seven second street legal viper???????? That is the car to own!!! fudge the supra...give me that viper!!!

Reminds me of the one time I went to the strip (to watch)...
Saw a guy in a mid-80s Camabird pull up. Right away, you could notice he was special - he was 20-30% louder than the other cars that were running open headers.
His last run, he was up against a bike (bracket racing). The bike left first. He caught the bike, but broke out at 7.39 on a 7.40 dial at 186.xx mph. Then the parachute came out..
