Thought you guys might like to see this.
Bought this in Dec. '92 bone stock. Replaced damn near every part except for the engine and interior (flawless leather, a credit to the previous owner). Car had 106k miles on it and 140 when I sold it 3 years later...
Momo Aries (laugh all you want, they were cool at the time)
Neuspeed/Bilstein HD suspension
Neuspeed throttle body
Euro headlight conversion
Neuspeed upper strut tie bar
Fuba antenna
Misc. audio components

At the time it was the only modded VW in Portland as far as I know.

Nice ride. How much did you sell it for back then?
And, those wheels are not very common nowadays. It's been a while since I last saw them. Me like.
The uniwiper was a novelty back then, nowadays, well is a another story.

The '83's came with the single wiper standard, that's what a lot of Corrado and MkII owners use to convert their duals with. I can't remember what I sold it for. Too many VW's since then.
Pics were taken back when VW still had their parts depot/tech. training facility out in Hillsboro.

Ah... Reminds me of the good old days (not that old
). Back in the early nineties when a fellow Vortexer (TDawg) and I used to roll around in my old man's 1870cc single side-draft weber, Brown Beater Rabbit...Not too many modified H2O's were out there then, just some boomin systems! Back before very many Hondas had any big exhaust tips. TDawg and I had many good races/stories from those days. Now I am feelin old.

Anyway, clean 'rocco! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Boy, I'm glad I didn't live in Portland when I got my first VW in 1987...a '78 Scirocco that I had painted Nugget yellow with a Zender body kit/euro grill, chrome DP-5s, a transplanted 1.8 from an '86 GTI, 16V close ratio 5-speed and M3 leather interior.
I'm starting to feel old.

Was there ever a magazine feature on it? Sounds familiar.

That's a sweet car...I think I remember seeing that thing rollin in the PDX area in the early '90s.
There were a few other modded VW's I knew of in the late 80's/early 90's...Bernd had his '84 GTI and he'd done the first 16v conversion in it, and I had a friend with a pretty wicked black '84 GTI (license: FLI GTI) with limo tint, Zender side skirts/rear skirt/fill piece/rear spoiler, euro bumpers, rabbit hutch front spoiler extension, lowered w/illuminas, and those 15" black Riken honeycomb wheels. It had a K&N, Neuspeed t-body, and exhaust. I also had a friend with a mica red '88 16v that had 15" DP selects, Neuspeed springs/Illuminas, custom intake/exhaust, 4 round grille, and a *huge* system in it. That was a nice looking car--it was painted black under the side molding, debadged, and had the front sidemarkers shaved. I think I've got pics of 'em around here somewhere.

I did not know that. I guess I really never noticed. Good trivia question.

4Rings BTW, all 82 Scirocco's came with the mono-wiper. Only the first run of 83's came with them until a significant amount of the inventory was used up. Hence, a portion of 83's have 2 arms.

Funny, while looking for these pics to scan I found a pic of that mica colored GTI I took at a VW show at PIR. I LOVED those wheels.
I remember Berndt car around too. Only saw it once or twice though.

Hey Rob, yeah, I've seen 83's with 2 wipers and 82's with two wipers...weird. That's why I can never date a SciroccoII unless it's a 16v. Even then with all the conversions you still can't be sure.
And by the way, that IS Plus One. I stop by at least once a month to drool over the cars next door.

Almost bought a 944 turbo there a few years ago. I've seen 356 Speedsters for sale in decent condition for around $14k. Not fakes either. Lotus Esprit S4's...mmmmmmm.

Hah, that place next door is still in business? I almost bought a 944S from them a couple years ago.
Hey Rob--if you find that pic again and have a moment, would you consider scanning it and posting it up? I'd love to see it! Thanks.
