I'm sick of buying $15 throw-away umbrellas that turn inside out whenever there's a slight breeze. We had proper rain this morning and once again my brolly turned into a flapping mess when I really needed it. I know there are plenty of gadget elites lurking on this forum so I thought I'd do the research and turn it over to the pros.
Does anyone have a Knirps umbrella? If so, do you know where I can get one in Australia, preferrably Melbourne? If not, USD prices and freight from the site below aren't that bad really.

I'll probably go the X1 and when my partner sees the list she'll want the Crystal version.

Re: OT - Knirps umbrellas (samps)

I've got one I bought at Marks and Spencer in Edinburgh. It's the best brolly I've owned, even in hi-ish wind it's un-wreckable.
I'll check the name of it tonight.

Just when I thought I'd seen everything on the Tex

I would of thought a Swaine Adeney Brigg would more suit a saunter down Collins.....

If wind is the problem something like this is the go, note the two panels that allow wind to escape rather than turn it inside out.

I've got a similar Ping golf one I've had for over 10 years, its just starting to be on it last legs now. Best 80 quid I ever spent.

AFN, the Porsche dealer in Reading, gives you one of these if you buy a car from them, unfortunately I lost mine but kept the car when I got rid of Mrs S mk1.

Hmm...Nice brolley.
I've just run out of freebie umbrellas (My last corporate one died).
Who can we hit up on the Tex for some?
Todd - Maccas
Tim - Nokia
Aaron - Whatever your shop is called
Wayne - ATC BMW 135i Racing (would be my favourite)
Liam - Ausmotive
Matt - Name of your Chambers
This is all too easy. So who is putting up?
I'm not ashamed - happy to be a billboard around the Sydney CBD for any of you. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I have one given to me in 1990 (no kidding) as a gift for starting my first full time job. I think it might be a predecessor to the 838: http://knirps.de/3f7c409973c5e....html
It's still intact although some of the plastic trims around hte handle have cracked. I think one of the "features" is that it doesn't have a spring loaded opening mechanism, which I expect reduces the stresses and risk of breakage.

Haha you win! But note that they have released the 0-100 times (4.9s) and power (400+kw from memory) for the Ghost.
