Does anyone make a stroker kit for the VR6 that ISNT Abt? I know about the availability/cost of their kit, and it forces me to look elsewhere.
Oh yeah, this does need to be a full kit (i.e crank, rods, piston set, etc )
any info would be appreciated....

Re: other than Abt, who makes stroker kits (nycvr6)

I want to do ca. 3.0L, what bore is required? Can I just use factory rods with the factory crank? or is there more I need...

thanks

I would assume that that is with the stock crank and rods. Only the piston size changes.
The bore goes from 81mm to 83.5mm. The stroke stays the same. Of coarse you couls always upgrade those too. Depends on what you plan for the motor.

Re: other than Abt, who makes stroker kits (Bora20)

Well, plans are for larger displacement, light forced induction, DSR cams.
I have a spare long block with bent valves, so I have an excuse to go BVH, and port'n polish also.
Anymore help would be appreciated......

Metallitubby,
We don't offer stroker kits, but we do offer 3.0L FI and 3.1L NA all-piston motors.
HTH:
2967CC (3.0L) - 3075CC (3.1L)
83.5mm-85mm JE Pistons
Balance & blueprint
Bore & hone w/torque plate
Line bore
Rebuild rods
Rod bearings
Main bearings
Thrust bearings
Main cap bolts
Rod bolts
Front main seal
Rear main seal
Jet wash block
Labor to assemble

Total 2995

Let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Jeremy

So is the price above the total cost for building a 3.0 FI or 3.1 NA motor??
What is the reliability of the 3.1?

The price is the same either way. With the turbo motor we typically recommend having the block o-ringed and the rods polished, shot peened and stress relieved ($400 additional). We stock both types of pistons as well

Didn't mean to skip that question:
We haven't seen any reliability problems. We spent plenty of time and money doing R&D for this motor, making sure everything worked correctly(especially regarding interference). It's not something we just slapped together and hope worked. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Is this with my block? or do you supply the block as well? I am new to the internal mods world so be easy on me...

Yes.
If we use one of our core blocks, then we have to add a $1000 core charge on until we get your good core(good crank is the deciding factor) back. As long as your short block is good, then we refund you the $1000.
There, that was easy, no?

Re: other than Abt, who makes stroker kits ([email protected])

easy enough. I would use mine, it spins freely, and just needs to be dusted off.
So, lemme clear this up...
I would want the 3.0L setup seeing as I am running a light boost S/C correct?
And this is an ALL PISTON setup?
What HP/ TQ gains have you experienced with just N/A Fi? ( so I can guess a baseline before adding S/C, Cam, Head numbers).
Thanks,

Our "crate" motors are either 83.5mm(3.0L) 8.5:1 CR or 85mm(3.1L) 10:1 CR.
Of course if you'd like to run 9 or 9.3:1 CR for your s/c then we can do that for you as well. It'd just take longer b/c it's a custom setup.
Yes, ALL PISTON.

We haven't dynoed a 3.0L low-CR motor simply b/c we don't build them for use w/o FI.
Our 3.1L's typically make about 190WHP and 180ft/lbs with mild cams, chip, and exhaust.
HTH,
Jeremy
