as far as we know, these two boras are the first 2 that 's HID'ed in Singapore
And being a guinea pig (in taking the risk and installing it on our bora), we get it at relatively low price .. the part cost us no more than US$1000, and the installation is only US$80 estd
good deal huh?
the only regret I have on the photo is that my caractere grill did not come on time, so you are seeing one bora that still has the stock grill

Re: our babes got HID'ed :p (Sappa)

It is a VW parts dealer call Xin Zhong. They carry both VW & Audi genuine parts. If you like I can give you the email for contact. I had just ordered the VR6 front lip, rear valance & 25y anni side skirt at a very good price.

Sorry, I'm new to this stuff.
High Intensity Discharge. Basically 4800 or 7200K Xenon systems. The nice bright ones you see on the Audi's.

Is that different from these:

available at : http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...a=1&s=0&g=71900&id=essential_info&i=0269007NW for under $30.
If so, how are they different? Aren't both xenon? Again, sorry if this sounds basic. I am new to this.

Actually there's quite a bit of difference. Basically normal bulbs have a fillament inside that when you put electricity through it, it gets so hot that it glows and produces the yellowish light that you are used to seeing on cars. The picture that you posted is basically the same thing except that they tint the glass blue and fill the inside with xenon gas to "simulate" the appearance of real HID lights. HID lights on the other hand don't use conventional bulbs with fillaments. Thay use a ballast ("bulb" with no fillament) in which very high voltage current "jumps" from one side to the other and produces a very white purplish light. Basically when you see Audi's, BMW's, and MB's with bright purplish headlights, they have HID's. If you look at the car on the left hand side of the first picture in this thread you will notice the inside light (xenon bulb) has a bluish tint to it, while the outside one (HID) is clear.
Oh another thing. You might want to think twice about putting the xenon bulbs on your car as they are prone to excessive heat and thus melt the wiring harnessess in our cars. I know from experience with both low and high wattage bulbs.
Hope this helps.

Basically, the light housing has to be change too, the whole set comes with 2 headlights, 2 ballast / Xenon bulbs, 2 transformer, 1 starter, 2 brackets, 2 wire harness and some plastic parts for the assembly. That is why it is so damn expensive to buy only the parts. My dealer told me that the Passat has very little parts as compare to Golf/Bora as it has the wire harness in place for the HIDs to plug on. After the mod it look like this

BTW after the installation, you should send the car back to your agent for alignment, which cost us about $10. You can also DIY through the adjusting screw behind the lamps. As for levelling, the new units comes to work with the manual leveling switch which is existance in our car. So the missing item to make it a complete original mod is the headlight washer, which I will do only if the authorities complain about it.
