If I let the car idle for a few minutes to cool down the turbo the car starts to run hot. It gets to about 240, the fans don't seem to come on. One day while I had it on the VAG the temp started rising and the fans turned on. Tonight it just kept on rising. Is there a way I can test the fans or do they have their own temp switch. I recently put in a new waterpump and rebleed the system when I changed the turbo. THe car only has 20k on it, please advise if possible.

Take the cap off of the coolant tank and check and see if there is a stream of coolant dumping into the tank. if there is little to no flow then the water pump has failed. Dam german enginers with composite water pump impellers.
