Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with my car. The car is overheating due to the big fan not working. The fuse's on top of the battery are fine. I turn on the ac and only the small fan kicks on. Let me know your ideas guys. Also the waterpump has been replaced.

sometimes the big fuses get corroded underneath and don't make contact. pull them out and inspect the connections. you can also test the fan by applying 12 volts directly to the connector.

I've had the big fan fail on more than one MkIV. If all the fuses, contacts, etc are good, you're going to have to change the actual fans. It should be easier on a 1.8t than on a 24v as you've got a lot more room to work with.

You may want to flush your coolant, replace the thermostat, temp sensor and fan switch while you're in there.
