I had my 2016 R MK7 in for 50K service. I have a P2024 EVAP Fuel Vapor Sensor code. Dealer said broken wire and connector. Wants $450 to repair. Sounds excessive. Any thoughts? Where physically is the sensor located? Thanks in advance.

I could be totally wrong but just an idea... I’m pretty sure the vapor sensor is not the purge valve. If I’m correct it should be on the side of the gas tank, on the passenger side. There is a harness there that hangs down In a very bad position, I’ve seen this harness on my car and was concerned with what a bad spot it’s in and that it had literally nothing protecting it, if I had to bet I’d say that is most likely where your issue lies. It should be a small harness usually where fuel filters are on other vw models.

Hi guys! Please help, I’m having the same problem with code p2024 and p2026. I checked already the wires that goes from the fuel temperatures sensor underneath the car, to the plug on the back of the fender liner, I remade the whole section of harness because my red and brow wire was broken, so a decided to remade the whole pice of harness but I’m having the same problem and I can’t clear the code… I checked with a voltmeter if I had some kind of power to the plug but I can’t read nothing… do u guys have a wire diagram for that fuel temperature sensor? Or do u know how much volts I should have in the plug? because I don’t really know where to check anymore and I have to start strip the car to see where those wires goes..

Had this code on my S3 Stage 3 build and it turned out to be a compromised fuel vent line [from excess heat in engine bay due to turbo swap kit].

A full replacement of both fuel and vent lines with braided steel lines successfully cleared the code.

You can more easily diagnose by putting your finger on the evap solenoid in the engine bay - the physical vibration on the solenoid will 100% align with the audible symptom you're also hearing.
