Re: Painting side skirts etc. (elmoworld)

I heard that if you want it to come out good, smooth, not textured, then you need to use filler primer, and then paint, take em to a body shop they will do a good job on em http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I painted my OEM skirts all around, just make sure you bring it to a shop that does good work, other wise you end up doing it again like i had to
but in the end it was worth it. I took off all my parts when i got them painted it just made it easier for me so there was no chance of any overspray from the body shop. Good luck.

Re: Painting side skirts etc. (feeling_sinister)

I was going to paint mine as well.. Is it hard to do yourself? I mean do you recommend me not doing it unless I have a shop do it because I don't really want to shell out a few hundred dollars for them to do it.
I read a post a little while back that talked about what you do need to do it. Basically what I got out of it was that I need to very lightly sand, primer, (base?) paint, and clearcoat. Would aerosol cans of paint give the right finish... or only a paint gun?
Thanks :}

Re: Painting side skirts etc. (Don't Have One)

I suppose you could give it a go with aerosol cans but you would have to make a 110% job of it and even then, it might not be a quality finish due to the aerosol..
My advice is to pay the extra and get a pro body shop to do it as they have all the quality tools for the job and are experts in their own right..
They will leave you with a fine looking finish.
