Not really, I still got a leak through the 3rd brake light. ⛈ One way or another water will find its way into the MK7s. :)

All true...
We got the S model in our mk7 Sportwagen and Alltrack because our mk5 Sportwagen panoramic roof made the interior noisy, not because its leaks and broken shade.

Had I known at the time Id have done the same...
I turned down a comfort line slicktop tdi for my leaky panoramic comfort line tsi...if I had only known at the time.

J complained, got the "you bought a vw with a sunroof, what did you expect?" Line from vw of Canada, and its looking like it'll be the last vw for me...excluding their other brands.

That said, a new seal fixed my issue.
2019 GSW with panao here. The roof has been fine since new. For the 3rd brake light leak, my dealer replaced the brake light but that didn't solve the problem. The tech then used silicon around the brake light and it has not leaked since. The wagon has been dry for the last couple years.
Since the question is specific to the pano roof, I voted #2 - no leak.

Here we go again.......

Pano doesn't leak but my water pump housing and oil filter housing does.
Some drama can be avoided by parking on a flat spot. If you’re parked on a moderate slope with one end facing downhill and it rains hard, I can almost guarantee a leak.

I have a 2017 that removed the 4 red drain caps right after I bought it in May of 2017. Clean the drains once a year and wash the car regulary probably 1-2 times a month, 2 bucket method. Almost 6 years and 80k miles its never leaked. as some would say "....yet" Never had a car with a sunroof before and now I got the ultimate sunroof. If a SEL was possible without though, I'm sure I would've gone that route more for the less noise aspect than the possibility of a leak.

That's not been my experience. If the sunroof/drains haven't failed, it will be fine on any incline.

Definitely, the road noise is often overshadowed by the potential leaking...

Pano leaked within the first year I got the car, brought the car in and was fixed. Haven't had an issue since. Also had the spider trap removal done a couple of years after when the recall was issued.

But I will admit, adding noise absorption material behind the door panels, trunk panel, and around the emergency tire area has made a difference as well. I'm probably OCD as I love a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride. Tire noise is also a big selling point when it comes to buying new tires.

Will be interesting to see how the poll ultimately does given how much its talked about.

Had a Fox, 2 Jettas and a GLI. Never a problem that I did not cause.
2016 which is normally garaged. I had the recall where they cleaned or did something with the drains. Have never had a leak. Also absolutely no problem with anything on the car. Change the oil, replace the tires (which down-on the road noise and improved the ride) that is it.

Mine just got out of the shop for the 9th time, no one will admit to this being a design flaw

If I got to that point with a sunroof, that car would be gone lol.

If your car is in the shop for the same issue for a 9th time while most others have had the problem resolved (if they even had it in the first place) I'd put my money on a build quality flaw and not a design flaw. Regardless, beyond frustrating none-the-less and I feel for you.
