passat 16v in a golf

i know that the 16v's out of GLI's will wire straight in to my 87 golf CIS, but will the 16v out of a passat plug right into mine? can i use the wiring harness from the passat or would i need one from a GLI?

Direct swap. If it a passat auto trans there is one wire that will not have to be plugged up on the throttle body
