So I installed and programmed 2005 passat LED door lights that replaced the reflectors. Part of the time it worked correctly, but now only the front door lights have a weak glow when the doors are closed. I know its because the car doesnt see it as a simple bulb and there is a some energy going. What to do to fake out door LEDs? Cause im afraid they would drain the battery over the long run.

You need to add a resistor to each light to make up the remaining volts. Example, most leds consume about 3 to 4 volts but the system is 12 volts.

Another solution would be to get older style housing which accepts incandescent bulb and then replace the bulb with an LED that have built in resistor to mimic incandescent bulb
