ah zit!
dont feel like making an new post so ill drop the Q here.
if i get the split second boost controller which adds like 30hp and an APR chip which adds around like 50hp........do i look at it as 80 more hp???
or does it turn out to be different???

so what different between the two engines? transverse mounting in the jetta vs. in-line mounting in the passat, which means different exhaust system and intake manifolds? different chip?

No. When modding a Vehicle HorsePower doesn't just Add up.
A chip give you the Ability to remap all of the engine to work with the Additional boost added. A split Second BC would just allow you to add more boost. Using the BC to boost much more than what an APR chip would give you would not be beneficial to the life of the engine or turbo.

Re: Passat faster then my jetta.....can i deal wit some pieces? (hman)

the BC is controllable..........i can set it to stock if i want by turnign i knob in my car so im not running at 14.5 psi of boost at all times....
if i had the APR chip and the BC at like 9 or 10psi would that still be bad?
what do you recommend?
dropping the BC or what?

You cannot add a chip and BCS and then get the gains from both of them added up.....it doesn't work that way, the BCS does the same thing as the chip......having a chip programmed at 14.5psi and a BCS that only goes up to 14.5psi=14.5psi no matter which one you run, therefore only getting a gain of around 40hp or so.

quote:

so basically i can get the APR chip and it will do the same thing?

The boost controller will only control the boost. A chip will optimize the boost and fuel maps to yeild more HP at the same PSI level. A chip is the better bet.
