I'm guessing that it is po$$ible , just not realistic. The Passat 4Motion uses the same running gear as a Audi A4. It would probably be a lot easier ( still hard and expensive) to use the Syncro system like what Momentum has used. http://www.momentummotor.com click on projects and check out the A3 models.

ok....well here is the reason i asked. my car is an auto and i figure if i want a vr6 a passat is a better choice for a donor..(while i am looking at passat's i thought why not get 4motion too)..most had vr6 with auto tranny, now i know it would be alot harder to find an auto jetta GLX or GTI....if you know what parts i will need can you let me know.

my advice would be to start looking up in canada....for one of the older passat syncros. That would be the most feasaible swap for awd. Give trac racing a call up in montreal. 1877414trac. They shoudl be able to help ya out.

well the passat (with 4motion) doesnt come with a VR6 engine, it comes with the audi V6 engine. and it is mounted lengthwise in the car, your jetta engine is mounted transversely. so not only will the engine not work, but the tranny and in turn that 4motion system will not work. you can ask HPA motorsports in canada, they transplanted the 4motion into a Mk4 so its possible it could go into a Mk3. the Mk3 came with syncro from the factory in europe and the Mk4 currently is available with 4motion in europe.
