Pep Boys rant...

Just like to share that my mom got totally ripped off by Pep Boys today...They charged her $80 for a battery, and then another $40 to install it! When asked why it would cost so much to install a battery, the clerk said "well its a Volvo, there are all kinds of special cables and sensors that we have a deal with."...riiight...on top of it, when the code was lost on her radio, they tried to type it back in, unsuccessfully over and over, meaning that she had to go through all this crap to get the radio to allow her to try to enter the code again. When i learned of all this i told her i could have put a new battery in for her in about 10 minutes in the driveway...but anyway, sorry this doesn't really have anything to do with Mk3s, but she did help pay for mine...at advanced auto the kid came out into the parking lot with tools to help me for free when my battery died in their parking lot.

Man that Pep Boys does suck... I had a ball joint fail on my old car in their parking lot. I went ahead and had them work on it there (seemed easy enough). Well, first it took them a week to get to the car. Then they proceeded to mess up my fender and wheel liner while working on it. Then they told me they were going to charge me for two floor jacks they broke moving my car from the lot to the garage! I say again: Pep Boys sucks. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

go back with your reciept, ask for the manager and the sales clerk that claimed volvo has extra sensors and whatnot, and have BOTH of them show you where those sensors are. give them the basic speil about how you dont like being ripped off and how you wont come back etc etc... if they dont show you those sensors, and refund your money.

I work at advance auto and we do the batery install for free. Pep Boys is also a little pricey.

I would definately go back and complain to the manager, and then ask for the number to the district manager becasue you do not like the way they took advantage of a woman......he will make you happy right there, whatever it takes I gaurantee it. He will not want his district manager hearing about it. Should at least see the $40 back.....

The guy I bought my car from snap his timing belt. He took it to Pep boys and they didn't check anything else, they just put a new belt back on. A week later the belt broke and the head was trashed, then they had the nerve to ask to buy the car from him for $300. Do not take your car to Pep Boys! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
