Philly/NJ area dealerships

Well, I've spent the good part of the month dealing with about 15 different dealerships (from Burlington, NJ to Lancaster, PA) and I am going to go down the list and tell you guys/girls which ones were good/bad, why I felt that way, and who I dealt with. I learned a LOT, so you guys will have a nice report here...the only thing this is for, is for BUYING cars, not for service. This is just what I encountered during the last month of looking for a used Jetta.
First off, Metro VW in Philly. Chris Jarrell, the internet sales guy was great. REALLY nice guy, however, both Mike Demarco and his father Victor, were shady. Their inventory isn't too good, either. My advice? DO NOT GO HERE.
Ardmore...they had nothing I wanted so I don't know too much here. Brittany in sales is a sweetheart and was real nice over the phone, though.
Cherry Hill Imports...well, love the guy in finance, Ernie. I went to HS with him...lol. Hadn't seen the guy since 1990 when I graduated! Not too much in the used Jettas that fit my needs, though. But REALLY nice people there.
Springfield...STAY AWAY! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif Terrible sales staff...
Prestige VW...well, I might be getting the Silver VR6 Jetta from there, I will keep you all informed on how the whole delivery goes. So far, so good from them, though!
Devon Hill VW...I loved this place and if they had had a car that fit my needs, they would be my first choice in where to buy. Jena Vela in sales is a sweetheart and so is Michelle in finance. Both of them worked their asses off for me. Ruben in finance is also a great guy. My advice? TRY THEM FOR NEW CARS! They will do EVERYTHING for you! Ask for Jena.
Another dealership that I loved was the Wynn Group. Ask for Bob (I think his last name is Pasquarella) and Bill Smith in finance is the coolest guy ever. If you are closer to here than Devon Hill, this is the place for you!

Pitacairn...another one of the STAY AWAY dealerships. Very shady and non-customer friendly.

North Penn Imports...okay, now I KNOW a lot of you told me to stay away from here, but I didn't. And I am glad. Bob Peeples in sales and Joe McGarrity in finance...really nice guys who treated me with the utmost respect. I recommend them all the way!
Finally there are 2 that are far away from here...
First, World Volkswagen in Neptune, NJ...if you live anywhere near here. GO THERE! Great selection, great sales staff, great finance people. Two very enthusiastic http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

and last, but certainly not least...
Autohaus Lancaster...Laurie in finance is the coolest girl ever, she worked her ass off for me too and dealt with the insurance/banks like a pro. Good selection, too.
Anyway, I will update this thread as I make my final decision today on the car. When I am home with my new baby, I will let you guys all know

I second the Devon Hill BMW/VW... thats where i bought my car.. He took me for a fun test drive and showed me alot about the car. Autohaus was cool too, just because they had a HUGE selection in audi's, VW's and porsches.. It was a little far away though.

I bought my GTI at World, worked there for a year and a half, and know pretty much everyone at the deler. Both my Father and I bring our cars there and they go above and beyond everytime I'm there. There sales staff is great, and the service department is top notch!! they even over-look mods if you are really nice to them. Ask for Earl in teh sales Dept, one of the nicest car salesmen I know.

I also go to NP Imports and would recommend them if someone was having trouble at another dealer. I've had no problems with them during the 3 years I've owned my dub. Their service staff was extremely accommodating during one of my visits. They fixed a window regulator on my car, with no appointment) when they were already booked full with appointments for the entire day. Two http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif for that.
I do not like, however, how most VW dealerships won't give you a loaner car for the day if you can't wait for the repair or if you have no other mode of transportation. They'll gladly offer a rental from their fleet, though.
Now, I'm not too sure how it works, but most places offer loaners without hassles. I don't know the reason behind it -- maybe it's just to make more money? Anyone have some insight on this one?

Yeah Bob Pasquarella from Wynn is who I bought my WE from. Great guy, easy going (drives a 1.8T himself, but won't chip it) and best of all he is easy to buy a car from. One warning though, I won't be returning there for service. The service I got seemed great as far as the work done. The only issues I had was there there was ~ 20 mi on my car when I got it back from my 15K service. Not cool. Also, Bernie, one of the service guys tried to feed me a bunch of BS about brake pads and when I called him on it he only lied more and insulted me. They won't get my business for that reason.
Lancaster Autohaus. Simply awesome there. Almost bought an 2001 A4, instead of my WE, from them. They have great service, are mod friendly, good sales and finance people.

Jason, Wynn VW offeres free loaners, but only if you bought the car there. That is a concern I now have since I don't want to go to Wynn anymore. Does NP give you loaner when you are there?

Re: Philly/NJ area dealerships (einsig)

Actually, I've received loaners from Wynn before -- auto Jetta and a base S70.
Unfortunately, NP doesn't freely give out loaners. They have special circumstances, such as when you're in for a scheduled service (i.e, those that fall within the warranty period). Not sure what else, but I've been there for various reasons, and they kept pushing the rentals. I guess it's different from dealer to dealer.

I don't know about sales becasue I bought my car in Shrewsbury Motors.
Service?I go there. No problem when going for maintenance. They replace tranny and left axel in my car and also no problem.Only one problem with this dealer/service.They don't know how to make alignment.
Yeah, they have a lot of VW on parking lot so You can find what You looking for.
Re: Philly/NJ area dealerships (PhillyGirl)

Well, got the car, see my other thread....
I got the VR6 from Prestige VW in Turnersville, NJ. Brett Herrington sold it to me, and Oric Cortez wzs the finance guy. BOTH of them were awesome. Anyone looking to buy, that is definitely the place to go.
GREAT selection of new and used there, too.
Oh yeah, they also told me that when my new crystal clear side markers come in, to bring them in and they will put them on for me. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Hey Max, I haven't seen you around for a while....where you been hiding out?? I work in Harleysvill now! I work for Cingular and run the booth in the Wally World. You should stop in and hang sometime! I'm there until 8 thru the holidays.
To keep the thread on track, I bought my current GTI at North Penn Imports and they were great to deal with. I go there for my service too. I too went for a regulator two weeks ago and they fit me right in, no questions asked, the same day. Their parts guys aren't so friendly however.
Oh, and congrats on the car Phillygirl!!
