Anyone have a photos of the cam gear timeing marks on the block? For the life of me, I can't see any where the Bently shows they should be
(shaved off?) Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place... It's close, but I'm still blowing some smoke out the exhast

Thanks .

Re: Photo of cam timeing marks? (hallkbrd)

If you have a stock G60 gear the mark is on the front of thje gear. if you have an ajustable gear the mark is on the back(I usually transfer it to the front with a punch and some paint) These marks get aligned with the valve cover edge on the front of the head. There is no mark to look for on the head or valve cover its just the edge to align up with.

http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif That is what I needed. The Bently indicates a mark that doesn't exist.
Someday I'll get the C all figured out (only been practicing now for 1-1/2 years)

Re: Photo of cam timeing marks? (BLUE NRG)

let me elaborate. The stockmarks of the G60 cam gear were differant than the BBM one. the BBM one had the single mark at the valley as opposed to the two marks on the peaks on the stock G60 gear. The TTT gear has the marks on the back as the gear was based on an older 8V gear. I transfered the marks on my TTT gear and the BBM I just used a small dab of paint for my tired eyes at 1145pm when I installed it. Either way both cam gears are sharp. I did feel it was necessary to use loctite on center bolts when installing the BBM gear. The BBM gear was bought used(very low milage). I think the Blue BBM would have looked better next to my FPR but the TTT gear looks good too.
either way hallkbrd got his answer.

Just for the sake of someone searching for an answer in the future..
The Autotech cam gear also has two marks on it (one on the outer gear ring, and the other on the inner plate).
Now to cut some plastic out of the crankshaft cam gear cover so I can see the other marks (it has some other VW cover - without timing holes!)...
