do you sand the valences before painting, or simply paint it on the rough texture? I have had the question for many months! please someone help me with this one..

mine was sanded, but still had the texture when painted. see my sig for pics.

Mine were not sanded, but if I were doing it again I'd sand them. Mine were painted 18 months ago and there is no chipping of the paint. Pix in sig

You have to spend some serious time if you don't want texture...a sanding is definitely in order along with filling in any scrapes you may have...
I have pics but no place to host...yet.
