I am going today to pick up my new 2001 A4...it was so hard to track this car down over the past few months...but I was able to find one left.

Had a few questions...
1. What exhaust systems do people use..I was thinking of several types, and I decided I wanted something somewhat quiet. My Jetta VR6 had a Neuspeed exhaust and it was a little too loud. I would like a nice deep, low, smooth tone.
2. Do most 1.8t owners use a turbo timer...or are they not that necessary? Can letting the car idle for a few minutes accomplish the same thing?
3. Finally, what are impressions on the Bailey Bypass Valve?

Dan,
I just bought the identical car on Monday. 4 days and my wheels are black with Dust already. How much did you pay. I got lucky when called my dealer and he had the car in stock. I didn't want the new a6 styled a4 either.
too bad nobody answered your questions. I'd like to know too. I was told that the turbo does not need a timer b/c the the oil is preasure fed to the turbo.
I don't think the bailey valve is needed yet. Only after you get some miles on it.
I'll be buying all my parts from AWE tuning so if I do an exhaust it will be the Borla. My first mod will be a GIAC Ecu after about 3,000 miles of break in.

Thanks guys...I am really happy with it. I did trade the Jetta in...which was really hard to do...I didn't want to leave the VW family. But I drove around for a little while yesterday, and those feelings left very quickly

I got a very good deal on the car, it was the only 1.8t left in my area and the dealer wanted to move it to make room for the new A4's.
Zero9nine : I am going to be dealing with PES, since they are in my area. I want to get the Giac chip, Bailey valve, and intake....then choose an exhaust. But thats where I don't know what to get??? I want something with a low deep sound...not a loud raspy tone.
As for the brake dust...all VW and Audi's have this same problem with stock pads...so I am planning to add Mintex (red box) pads ASAP!!!!

black wheels from brake dust seems to be very common with german cars as it happens to my moms benz too pretty quickly.
