Picking up New A4

I finally did it. Got rid of my rattle box 01 GTI GLX. Hopefully picking up 02 A4 1.8T tomorrow! I am so psyched, the car is SWEEEEEEEET!!! Sport package, monroof, heated seats, premium package, xenons, Denim Blue, and 5spd. I cannot wait anymore. I hope I can adjust to the turbo from the VR6 I had.

Just chip it and you won't have a hard time adjusting. Congrats, I love mine. Not '02 though!

Re: Picking up New A4 (peppeVR6)

Sounds like my exact car!! What color interior do you have?? I've got ebony leatherette and it looks really sweet. I just got my new premium weather mats from clairparts.com today and they are sweet!!
Can't wait till the APR chip will be available!!!
Enjoy, I've got 650 miles on mine so far.
Re: Picking up New A4 (moonturban)

Thanks guys! I am psyched! I got Denim Blue with Platinum leatherette interior! A change from the usual black for me. I got 22 miles on it so far! I may chip it also. Garrett says they have one coming out soon. I just don't wanna screw with the warranty, but then again my VR6 was chipped. I just hear that turbos blow easier with chips, is this true? The only option it doesn't have is the Bose system, but the stock one isn't that bad.

Re: Picking up New A4 (2lowA4)

Let us know how different the A4 feels from the VR6 GTI. I am thinking of uping to the A4 from a Jetta VR6. I think what I will miss in straight line omph I will more than gain in the twisties. Looking forward to pics as well. Mine would be a denim/ebony combo with sport for sure. I loved the way the car cornerd compared to my Jetta and the interior was beautiful. I might miss the blue interior lighting though.
Keep us posted on your thoughts and comparisons after you have driven it for a while.
Cheers
Re: Picking up New A4 (Chaos)

turbo's blow up when you treat them badly. There is far more care needed for a turbo motor:
1. Proper warmup of oil temps before getting on boost (ie wait till the oil temps move up).
2. Proper cooldown of turbo after driving hard. (Turbo timer or lay off the boost for the last 1-2 minutes of driving).
3. Prompt oil changes, synthetic only.
This can be a minor or major inconvenience depending on your driving habits.

Re: Picking up New A4 (moonturban)

Once again thanks guys! Here are the differences I have noticed so far between the GTI VR6 and the A4.
1) The GTI feels lighter (obviously!)
2) No torque steer in the A4
3) The 4 cyl engine is a little noisier
4) the A4 handles much much much better! and is more comfortable
5) The VR6 was more torquier and faster off the line
6) The Audi seems to be built much better
7) The shifter is smooth and quiet, not clunky like the VW shifter
Don't worry about missing the blue lighting. The red is still there and it looks amazing. I was kind of getting sick of the blue lighting in the GTI anyways. I will give more input once I get a better feel for the car. Should I chip it? Will it make a big difference??
Re: Picking up New A4 (peppeVR6)

Congrats on the new TOY, enjoy it responsibly......

Re: Picking up New A4 (RussianS4Rocket)

Thanks I will be responsible! I feel so much older now with this car. The GTI felt like a kids car where this beautiful A4 makes me feel older and more responsible. Maybe I should just leave it the way it is? Or should I chip it?
Re: Picking up New A4 (peppeVR6)

Hmm. I felt the exact same way when I picked up my 2k1 A4. I certainly feel thirtysomething now.
